Spring has sprung around the country and it’s already time for Easter and Passover celebrations! Every spring, I have the amazing opportunity to attend the American Academy of Dermatology Annual Conference. The conference is attended by over 10,000 dermatologists from around the globe, as well as over 10,000 exhibitors showing off the latest and greatest new treatments and products. The conference offers hundreds of lecture sessions on serious topics such as skin cancer updates, as well as lectures on lighter topics, such as the best plant botanical ingredients in the new anti-aging creams. Here is a photo of my colleague Katherine and I as we navigate the floor of the massive exhibit hall at AAD 2012.
I wanted to share some of the exciting and fun products that we discovered while we were there:
Latisse-Who doesn’t love Latisse? It is an awesome product made by Allergan, the makers of Botox, to make eyelashes grow thicker and longer. It is applied daily along the lash border with a tiny brush. It works very well and results are noticeable within a couple of months of using the product. It is only available by prescription or sold in physician offices. If you are interested in having thicker longer eyelashes, you will love Latisse. It is pricy (about $125 per kit) so watch for special pricing deals. Also, when using Latisse, be sure to have your eye pressure checked once a year since it was originally used only as eye drops to treat glaucoma before it was discovered as a lash extender.
Glytone Bleaching cream-This is fantastic for lightening light brown sun spots on hands, face, chest. Be careful to only apply on the brown spot so that you do not get a white ring around the spot. It has sunscreen mixed in so that it can be used both AM and PM for maximum results! It does contains the controversial skin bleaching ingredient Hydroquinone and should only be used for a few weeks at a time. It is only sold on physician offices. Price is $60
KP Duty-If you have dry rough patches on your upper arms, you may have Keratosis Pilaris. It is a condition of very dry skin that collects around hair follicles and is common on upper arms and hips. This company, Dermadoctor, is so much fun to read about and they have developed a great product line to help with Keratosis Pilaris, called KP Duty. It can be found at Sephora stores and online, price is $36.
Spongeables-I am in love with this product! It is a sponge that is already infused with great soaps, lotions and moisturizers, so that when it gets wet you just apply it to your skin and it lathers and conditions. I love the foot scrub Spongeable. My feet are so much softer after using it for only one week and it smells great! They have Spongeables for other areas of the body too! It can be found at drugstores or online and costs $15.
We have ordered a new product called Retriderm in our office. It is a strong topical Vitamin A and is designed to smooth texture, fine lines and pores on the face with less irritation than some of the other anti-aging products. It is a new addition to the products that we currently carry in our office and I am anxious to hear feedback from people. I have started using it myself and will report back soon!
Stay tuned to the home page of the blog where I will continue to mention new and exciting products. I am excited that I will be adding a fashion corner to the main page also. I have a friend who is an up and coming LA fashion designer and has volunteered to make recommendations about proper use of fashion accessories for my readers! I can’t wait to learn some tips from her!

I am always looking for new blog topics or interesting products. Send your ideas to email@example.com.
I have been asked if I receive any financial incentive to mention products in my newsletter/blog and the answer is no. I only comment on products that I have used myself or that I recommend to patients because they have unique benefits. However, I am a clinical trainer for both Medicis (Dysport/Restylane) and Allergan (Botox/Juvederm).
